Printmaking Residency

Applications for Next year open in Feb 2012. Stay Tuned!

The GSS Printmaking Residency Program offers three artists six months of free, unlimited access to the GSS print shop. Although the dates vary from year to year, applications are due in April and residency begins in June. The residency culminates in a print exhibition co-curated by Print Residents and GSS Directors. The exhibition shows Residents’ newly produced works, and work from a greater network of printmakers and GSS members.

In keeping with the GSS mission to facilitate production and encourage cross-disciplinary exchange, the GSS Printmaking Residency brings accomplished artists and dedicated printmakers into a community with fellow GSS studio members, fostering experimental collaboration.

RESIDENCY PARAMETERS

  • Print Residents are granted 24-hour access to the GSS print shop for these six months.
  • Print Residents have reserved entry and discounted rates to all GSS printmaking workshops that run during their residency.
  • Each Print Resident is granted a materials stipend of $100.
  • Print Residents should expect to spend at least 10 hours per week at the studio for the duration of the residency.
  • Print Residents will participate in the planning of the November print exhibition at GSS, with the help of GSS Directors.
  • Each Print Resident will be asked to donate one or more prints to the GSS Collection.
  • The print shop is a shared workspace.  While Print Residents hold expertise in their chosen media, they should also bring interest in experimentation and work alongside their fellow residents to contribute to the GSS community of artists.
