Membership is open to all artists, designers and craftspeople who need the space, facilities and equipment to bring their work to life.

All members enjoy 24-hour access to the workspace, including woodworking, and printmaking equipment, as well as large, sunny open space and wifi throughout the studio.

There are currently 5 basic levels of membership:

Membership Fee: $300 each member pays an initial, one time only, lifetime membership fee. Even after you leave us (sad!) we honor your membership for discounts on workshop fees and other benefits.

Part-Time Membership, Only $125/mo includes acces to all tools and workspace.

Basic Membership, $175/mo. includes access to all tools and equipment, open workspace, and a private 2′ deep x 4′ wide closet for storage.

Full Membership, $325/mo. includes access to all the tools and equipment, open workspace, and a private 5′ wide x 7′ deep x 8′ tall storage bay.

Studio Membership, $375-700/mo. includes access to all the tools and equipment, and a private, white-walled studio space. ***Our studio membership is currently full. If you would like to join us at the studio level, please submit an application and we can add you to our wait list. We fill vacancies first with our current membership, so if you are ultimately interested in a full studio, join at a lower level to begin.***

Add ons! Printshop Cubbies and Flat Files: $20 each/mo. Conveniently nestled inside our printshop, we have 2′ wide x 3′ deep x 3′ tall cubbies for you to store your tools and inks, and we have massive banks or 40″ x 50″ flat file drawers for you to store your paper and prints. The perfect addition to a part-time membership.

Application Process

The Studio reviews applications on a monthly basis. Applications submitted prior to the 15th of each month will be reviewed that month, and applications submitted after the 15th will be reviewed the following month.  The Studio accepts members all year, and we encourage our members to stay for at least 1 year. There is no limit to how long you can be a member!

HOW TO JOIN

1. Fill out our Online Application or Download and fill out the application to the left,

2. Submit your online application, or mail your Downloaded application to info@gowanusstudio.org, along with a pdf of your CV or Resume, and 6 Low-Res Images of your work.

3. If you have a web portfolio, you may simply send the URL along with your application instead of including 6 images.
