Intro to Etching
Using copper plates with non-toxic acid, this course will explore new and old approaches to etching. The class will focus on etching and printing with copper plates using traditional techniques as well as new ways of printing. Processes include, hard ground etching, soft ground, Aquatint, (which is the process to add tonal value to a plate), and Spit Bite, which is as good as it sounds. Also, simultaneous intaglio + surface-roll color processes will be introduced.
